Residential

Two Storey Extension

The Project.

A two-storey rear extension; full refurbishment of the home interior the and creation of an outside-living entertainment area. The whole property was externally rendered over a timeline of 20 working weeks.

The Challenge.

With any period property there is a balance to be struck between preserving the original features while making it fit for the needs of modern living in the 21st Century. Some aspects are purely aesthetic and can be readily complemented by new materials and designs, whereas some older features can be more of a hindrance, having outlived their useful lives or become unsafe. Furthermore, restoring period features can be a lengthy and cost-intensive exercise, since specialists craftspeople might be needed to sympathetically replace old materials with new ones made using different production techniques from the originals.

The Results.

By maintaining an ongoing dialogue and open minds with regard to what could be realistically achieved, the Midas team took specialist consultancy advice and presented a vision of what the Kews’ home could look like given the time and budget to make it real. The result is one we’re particularly proud of, since it challenged us to approach the project using different eyes and problem solving techniques than would normally be required. But our pride means nothing if it’s not matched by our customer. And we’re delighted to share that the Kews are exactly that; proud and delighted with the finished tableau. Thank you, Mr & Mrs Kew, for allowing us to be part of your vision and helping transform your home. We wish you many years of creating happy memories with your friends and family!
